Spin up your own automation server with n8n on PetaPod—no terminal wrestling, no server setup headaches. Just follow along and be live in minutes.
PrerequisitesA PetaPod account with active balance or payment method.
A basic familiarity with PetaPod’s App Catalog and regions.
(Optional) A subdomain ready for use, if you want a custom URL.
Log in and click on App Catalog. In the list, find n8n—the open‑source visual automation platform. Preview its description to ensure it's the right version.
Once selected, configure:
Region — pick one close to your users (e.g. Southeast Asia: Indonesia or Singapore).
Resource size — choose CPU, RAM, and storage based on your automation needs (small is fine to start).
Container name / subdomain — optional naming or URL you prefer.
Defaults are optimized so it's okay to deploy with recommended values.
Click Deploy, and PetaPod orchestrates everything:
Retrieves the n8n container image.
Sets up networking and persistence.
Launches the container in your chosen region.
Prepares the environment so n8n is ready to access.
Within moments, you’ll see the container listed under Running Apps.
Click the Open button next to your deployed instance. It will take you to the n8n web interface, There, follow the onboarding process:
Create your admin login.
Adjust default settings (timezone, webhook URL, etc).
Secure your instance using environment options or dashboard settings.
At this point, your n8n is online and ready to build workflows.
View CPU, memory, and storage usage anytime from your dashboard.
Restart, stop, or clone containers easily.
Upgrade resources (vCPU, RAM, storage) as workflow demand grows.
Attach a custom domain (optional): PetaPod can map your chosen subdomain to the n8n container.
Best Practices & TipsStart small. Begin with minimal resources and scale up later as needed.
Turn off idle instances. You only pay for runtime usage—stop the container when not in use to reduce cost.
Enable backups. If your container supports persistent storage or daily snapshots, turn them on to safeguard workflow data and credentials.
Update regularly. When a new version of n8n is released, redeploy from the catalog to benefit from updates.
Ready to go live?Deploying n8n on PetaPod removes the configuration barrier of self-hosting. With just a few clicks, you get a secure, containerized automation server running in the cloud, in a region of your choice.
